Yesterday I was in a meeting and my assistant came in and said my son was on the phone. My son is in college and he never calls me at the office. I took the call holding my breath as to what the subject of this midday call would be. My son says, “Dad, I have something to tell you.”
I say…(gulp)…”What is it son?”
He says, “I am in my apartment with my roommates. We are killing some time and we decided to play NHL 09 together. And Dad - YOU are in it! You have to be the coolest dad ever. How many kids can say their dad is in a video game that they are playing with their buddies while in college?!”
Now that is the kind of father/son talk that I love to have! Go Caps!

Dang, I was on the edge as to whether to get NHL 09, but if they’re going to get the best owner in the NHL into the game, it’s worth updating. Plus, they may finally give Caps players a little credit in their player rankings.

Even worse are the calls that start out with “Now, don’t get upset when I tell you this…”. I got one of those recently; thank goodness everything was okay. On another subject, THANK YOU and the Caps organization for the rookie season ticket holder orientation. It was great and I look forward to rockin’ the red as a season ticket holder!

They need to update the announcers’ dialogue on the Caps though. They make the same comments they did last year about us not winning and being a rebuilding team and not being a playoff team, etc. They didn’t update from the last version and it’s annoying.

You should try to get yourself motion-captured in the owner’s box sometime. THAT would be silly but awesome, and a little co-marketing never hurt anyone, right?

NHL 09 is a great game too. I keep beating the pants off the Penguins with the Capitals, like 6-1. I think that’s going to be the new thing that I do whenever I want to wind down; just beat the crap out of the Penguins.
