Sounds like a big company PR exec penned this write-up, don’t you think?
People can see through inauthenticity. Mark Zuckerberg shouldn’t be handled. He should write and communicate as himself. Be straightforward and honest.
Facebook is getting killed of late by spam. People are getting hacked. The ads that are served have zero relevance to me. My favorite widgets disappeared in the new design. As a developer, I am getting no viral traction anymore from our film widgets and widgets have a harder time being embedded in the new design. Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln?
Hey Its not broken, Let’s fix it !
I agree that the post didn’t sound like he penned it himself. That’s too bad. He should have the confidence/authenticity to speak for himself. Especially since he’s so involved in the product development process. If it’s his product, he should be able to speak.
As for the apps – i’m not sure i agree with you. The applications in the old design were very small and spammy and turned me (and many other users) off. I stopped looking at updates and notifications. The new design promotes applications that are big enough to warrant a tab
More importantly, it’s turning into a feed-centric world. Web apps i enjoy are putting information into this format and i think it really works (see Twitter, Tumblr, any other blog). The new design turns a user’s profile into a great feed – one that is much more interesting for me to consume vs. tiled modules. That is just me though.
