Confusion in the Marketplace

Recently the Sundance channel announced a new online feature that allows folks to download and purchase undistributed films and Snagfilms was mentioned as a competitor.

Now Slamdance has announced a streaming service for films from their festival where users can purchase the films. And Snagfilms is also mentioned as a competitor. See article here.

This is very misleading. And NOT TRUE.

Snagfilms is a free– ad supported streaming service– we make films into widgets– we create a charitable giving component– we allow for viral sharing of the film; we turn all bloggers– web site operators and any one with a Facebook or Myspace page into a ” filmanthropist” that can show your film to their audience for free.We share ad revenues with the film maker; we drive charitable contributions. We help the film maker sell dvds. That is what we do.

We don’t offer downloading; we stream and we are free to consumers. We are a web 2.0 social media service and platform. We are more like Hulu and Youtube. Sorry for the confusion.
