The Washington Mystics aren’t very good; we haven’t had a consistent winning record during our history as a franchise. While this is an accurate article on the Mystics performance– I believe we must face facts.
As head of the ownership group for the last 4 years — I take responsibility, along with Sheila Johnson– for our lack of performance– and we as a group are committed to creating a winning culture for our team.
We will articulate a plan– with a goal of creating a winning franchise that can compete and ultimately win a championship.
We will draft and develop our players to follow a system that we implement. We will trade for players that can fit the system and help us move forward. We will use free agency to help get us over the top.
We will have consistency in strategy and plan and we will stick with it. There is no easy fix to our problems but I can assure you that we will have focus and commitment to our plan; we will hire very talented people that we are on the same page with– and we will all be in the same boat together as we implement the plan.
Don’t blame coaches or GM’s or anyone else– the buck stops with us..as owners–
we will be aggressive and we will also be patient. We want to win and we want to win for the long term as well.
We apologize for the lack of a cohesive plan and for our performance on the court this season; our fans deserve better– and we owe them greatness and accountability and improved performance. We get it.
Why not just sell the team to Sheila and let it be her problem rather than yours? Let’s concentrate on CAPS!
Thank you for this blog entry. The Mystics have some very loyal fans who have supported them through thick and thin. I believe they will appreciate your statement.
We’ll watch 5 or 6 games next year. Maybe I’ll get a paratial plan. I like sitting in the 200′s.
