We havent done anything; we aren’t this good yet–temper your expectations, please.

We have miles to go before we sleep; I am serious– we cant believe any of this pre season hype– we must perform on the ice. Where it matters.

I must admit– it does feel good to see the respect we are being shown– as I stated last year– “The rebuild is over”; now how many of you thought we would be ranked this high– this fast ?

I dont take any of this seriously– it is all speculation– we are committed to improvement and to be a great team for a generation; and we want and need to win a Stanley Cup; let us just go out and play and stop the talking.

    We have a long way to go, but the team *is* this good. If people are talking about the elite teams in the Eastern Conference and NHL, the Caps *have* to be part of the conversation. There is nothing wrong with telling folks to not listen to the hype, but at the same time, part of the reason why the Red Wings are as good as they are is that they have confidence in their ability, they’re good, they know it, and they come in every night to kick butt.

    The Caps will be the same this year. There are no apparent weaknesses in this line up, the depth is there when you consider who might not make the opening night roster. The only question is starting out with a new goaltender this year, and hell, if you’re going to start with a new one, why not a former Vezina and Hart Trophy winner?

    The playoffs are a different animal and a different type of hockey and the Caps appear to have figured it out last year against Philly, but just a hair too late.

    Not this time, not this year… The Caps and Montreal are the teams to beat in the East in 2008-09.

    You are the best = but the dark horse in the eastern conference IS us! Finally, thanks to you and GM GM you have put a great team together. As a Caps fan since my first game ( a caps loss in the inaugural season) I have never been more excited. The only reason we are not favorites is we are not sure which Theadore we got…. Add decent Goal tending and the Caps are unstoppable!!!!
