Sorry these comments dont have to do with this blog entry but you didnt blog about the game last night and I made the drive up from Charleston to see it and I have to say at first I was quite upset when the guys came out and I didnt see Ove or Semin since I payed 200.00 for my seat on the glass and 180.00 in gas to get there but that faded quickly when the game started. By the way I got major dagger looks sporting my Ove jersey. I hated having to leave MD for work in Charleston but it was worth it last night tickin the canes fans off. I thought Id wasted gas until I saw Varlamov. This kid with his Hashick like contortion saves was worth the money. Id heard he was good but MAN! He was amazing! Everything you billed him to be and more. I love Brent but I cant see this kid not getting the #2 spot when the season beggins. I counted 4 highlight reel saves in the period and at the end of the period he was under seige and became an unshakable wall. I dont have room to go player by player cause I could. The talent of these young guys is amazing. I yelled to gabby as he was getting on the bus, how are you gonna cut these guys. You have too much talent to choose from. Two guys that I do want to comment on are Perreault who was a stick handling bolt of lightning who I watched deek around 3 canes in the neutral zone and then shot like a rocket into there zone. This kid is fast!!! And the other is my only disipointment. Alzner looked great in every aspect of his game. He saw the ice well and was great breaking up the rush with good comand of his stick and his out passing was spot on BUT hes shying away from the hitting. I watched him let guys leave him from the boards cause he wouldnt back check and when any of the canes came at him he would give up the puck rather then take the hit and that aint gonna cut it at the NHL level. Other than that it was great. To see Nylander back and doing what he does so well was great and Kozlov is still lazy but he picked up 2 helpers. This team is so deep that injuries will play a very little roll in the success of this season. so Ted, in a nutshell, IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s too bad we’ll have to wait to see Ovie play until October!
I’ll be in Section 102 tonight, Rockin’ the Red! Preseason home opener!!! LETS GO CAPS!
