I was in NYC last week and walked into the NHL store on the Avenue of the Americas. The store is very high tech and very cool. They show these ads and have a great selection of new merchandise.
I bought a retro t-shirt for my daughter and as I paid, they put the shirt in a big shopping bag with Alex Ovechkin’s picture on one side and the NHL.com logo on the other side.
Is this the year?
“[A]s I paid…” Some owners would have called attention to the fact that they own a team; others may have even pointed to the picture and said, ‘I pay his salary.’ What does Ted do? He smiles and hands the bag to his daughter. Is it any wonder anyone who comes into contact with this franchise falls for it? This is a lunchpail toting group who works to the best of their abilities and does it all with class. Remember Cap fans, when you wear the red, white, and blue, you represent Mr. Leonsis, A.O., and the rest of us. What you do reflects on all of us.
