We Aren’t as Good as You Think We Are

And we aren’t as bad as you think we are.

We are three games in and we are 2-1.  Last year, we were 3-0 and then couldn’t win a game for months on end it seemed. :-)

It is too early to see any trends or any telltale signs so just enjoy the games. Time will tell if we deserve any of the hype we have been receiving.

  1. No team can play every game like the Caps did against Vancouver on Monday, just like no team can play as badly as the Canucks did on Monday every night. The trick is to find the players who are playing well on a given night and play them a lot. It’s just easier to get players having good nights when you have lots of good players, which the Caps have.

The best test coming up is tomorrow night in Pittsburgh. The Caps made some noise to the league on Monday, but on Thursday, they can send a message. If they win convincingly, then the message will be sent that the Caps are an elite team in the league….

Gads it’s really fun to be a Caps fan right now (it always is, but now we have a good team and an owner who *cares* about the results!)

  2. We need to greatly improve on the Goals Against column in the standings this year to be considered a much improved team. We will obviously score goals when this team is healthy considering the firepower in the lineup, but we need to shut teams down (like we did against Vancouver). Take the Atlanta blip off the screen of allowing 7 goals and it’s what we need to do – 2 or less against in most games, maybe 3 against occasionally on the off night.

San Jose has allowed 4 goals against in 4 games. Stellar.

  3. Ted,

No need to wait for time. I have had the pleasure and honor to meet some of the coaches and players. The difference in BELIEF from last year to this is, quite simply, overwhelming.

I feel that the character that is being uncovered in the very being of this team is phenominal. Thank you Bruce, Jay and Dean.

Will this be the year? Only God knows.

Do I believe it is possible? Absolutely!

Can the “Red” be the determining factor? I believe so!

    UNLEASH THE FURY!

  4. True, true….but watching the Caps defeat of the Canucks sure was a sweet display of how a team can play when it’s firing on all cylinders.
