The Bar has Been Raised

So we have played five games. There were 10 points to be had and we garnered seven points in total with points in four out of five games. Yet the players, coaches and fans are dissatisfied. I believe if we continue to rack up points at this clip, we would surpass last season’s point total. Yet we believe we can and will do better.

The bar has been raised. Getting one point and losing in a shootout is no longer cause for some satisfaction for our team and franchise, which is a good thing.

Now we need to get healthy. We are already without veterans Brian Pothier, Tom Poti and Victor Kozlov and managing the salary cap is getting more and more challenging for us as injuries mount.

I don’t know the particulars of what happened here but I do know that I have been upset at times with the MSM and haven’t been able to escort them out of the building or tell them they aren’t welcomed back even though that was how I may have felt. :-)  The NHL needs a big tent when it comes to coverage. We need to embrace new media and be the leaders in developing affiliates and a network that talks about our sport, our teams and our players.

We welcome bloggers to the Caps press room – always have and always will - but decorum and professionalism is mandatory. See Eric’s Bill of Rights that we developed many years ago. Still spot on today.
