I can say that Joe and Craig are very good and have great chemistry, but the thing that really sets them apart from most local broadcast teams is their honesty. If the Caps do something that deserves criticism, Joe and Craig do not pull any punches. Most local broadcast teams are absolute homers, making excuses for the home teams bad play, or giving the home team credit for everything that happens during the game. They are very professional. The other great thing about Joe B, is that he has enthusiasm for great plays, whether it's the Caps or the opposition. If Malkin makes a great play and scores against the Caps, Joe B calls the action enthusiastically. Most Local broadcast teams make the simplest home team goal sound like Ovie's "The Goal", and any good play by the visiting team is made to sound very Ho-Hum. That really bothers me about most broadcast teams, and I really like and respect that Joe and Craig show the true enthusiasm of real hockey fans and broadcasters regardless of who or which team is making the great play. I talked to them during practice one morning and they were VERY cool and down to earth. With all due respect, I think Al Koken is a better sideline guy than a PXP guy, and I wish we could get Steve Kolbe to do CSN games where Joe has to be away. You have to have a threat from outside if you want passing lanes in the middle during a power play. That and there was no movement at all..none. No one was moving to the front during the PP... They also had to know that they would get a lot of penalties against them once they gave the Caps a 9 minute power play. Anyway, Theodore looked very good and the two goals that got by him were great shots (albeit giving up the puck directly to Jarome Iginla on power play is a horrific mistake, that usually ends up on the scoreboard...damn he's good). Kipper was great for Calgary in the net as well. But still, a 9 minute power play...you have to get at least one in the net on that....
