Incorrect Info on Alex Ovechkin’s Grandfather

I just spoke with Alex Ovechkin after practice and he informed me that his grandfather HAS NOT passed away. This report in a Russian paper and on this blog is incorrect. Alex asked for respect of his privacy and that they will communicate to our fan base in an official capacity if there is any news on this matter.

Alex was happy to be back at practice and with “his family away from his family” and is quite appreciative of everyone’s comments and concerns. Thank you.

  1. Hello !

I didnt’t know that such blog existed. I just want to say that I glad that such player was allowed to spend time in Russia. Alex is indeed the most impressive active player. I grow up loving Wayne Gretzky. For sure, Alex is a next one after Gretzky and Lemieux.

Anyhow, my favorite teams are the New York Rangers and of course the Montreal Canadian ! (I am a french canadian living in Montreal).

Still, I think that Washington has an interesting team although there is too many team in the NHL well.. to many team in the USA ! A team like Nashville for exemple should be in Ontario instead. I believe that the product should be near the customers. Maybe one day we will apply this theory!…

Good luck and continue your good work ! Washington has a great future with a lot of potential!

Thankfully the report in the Russian paper is wrong and how they could have made such an inaccurate report is beyond comprehension. The Caps blogger who translated the Russian article has been very credible and has found and translated articles on Caps players in the Russian media. To the blogger’s credit, the initial entry did question the accuracy of the Russian report because no other Russian media was making such claims. Throughout the day, the blogger added updates that showed that Russian report was highly suspect and has now stated that the report is incorrect.
