Now is the time to come together as a nation and to get back to work.
No more fighting. No more talking. All sacrifice and dedication and focus to work together to make America a great country once again. Unified and organized to succeed and to redefine the American Dream. America has always been about hard work and about positive outcomes and independence and doing the right thing the right way. It is the shining light in a shadowy world. It is about diversity; youth and promise; energy and passion about Democracy; and a collective will to do good.
We should be proud of ourselves. America has always been about change and about restlessness and fighting status quo. We are – at our heart – revolutionaries and the good fight was fought and won. The better candidate won. Our new President-Elect had a clearer message; a better organization; more resources; better plans; a great use of the web; and an uplifting message that America responded to overwhelmingly!
Both candidates brought honor to the democratic process of electing a President. But now we are no longer Republicans or Democrats, we are Americans. We have elected a new President. He has a mandate and a majority in the Senate and Congress. The country asked for and demanded change and we will now get it. Let us all work together to help make America great again. It feels like a great man once said, “Morning in America”. Wake up now and let us get back to work.
Voters for Barrack Obama either do not understand or do not respect the Constitution of the United states (or both).
Historic? Yes.
Ignorant? Absolutely.
To Don: sorry, I disagree. I read it as if Ted was gloating about his “better candidate” that won. Regardless, I strongly disagree with his seeming belief that the winner should be supported regardless of his policies or direction he wants to take the country.
Increased taxes translates to decreased money for trips to see the Caps play. Simple economics. Only so much left after bills, retirement and college tuitions are paid. It will be a time of less entertainment spending and decreased voluntary charitable giving.
Ok, here’s the deal. Don’t start assuming Obama will be a good or bad president until he’s actually done something in office. All he has done so far since being elected is begin to think about who he wants to appoint to particular jobs in his administration. I have a feeling he will even appoint some Republicans in his cabinet if he feels they are the right folks (he has spoken very hightly of Def. secretary Robert Gates in the past and may keep him on in that position!)
I’m pretty apolitical in that I have faith that no matter who is in charge, the USA will make it through. This is a bad time econimically, but the USA has been through worse. Let’s see what President-Elect Obama does before we figure out what his place in history will be.
Well, since Obama has shown no desire to work with people who oppose him (one of the most liberal and partisan politicians in the Nation) and he has control of Congress, I see no reason why he will suddenly change and work with any of the Republicans.
Ted, how long until you invite Obama to watch a Caps game in your suite?
America ,Home Of The Brave, Let My Hawaiin Family welcome Washington to the Family. We need to bring Manufacturing and high skilled jobs back to the United States, from Off-Shore, The Emerging world does NOT have high Fixed COSTS and in OUR Great Nation we cannot afford to loose more jobs.
to Joe: there was no inkling of partisanship in this blog post at all. In fact, it sounded to me like he was accepting his candidates defeat. I dont personally care who Ted votes for its his American right to vote for whoever he wants, but thats what it sounded like to me.
By the way, Republicans buy hockey tickets too. I’m not sure partisanship is a good marketing tool.
That’s complete nonsense Ted, with all due respect. Anyone who would sit idly by while Obama leads this country down the wrong path is doing a disservice to the country. The battle for America’s soul resumes today.
Well said Ted. Yes We Can!
Well said Ted! We all need to get behind the President, regardless of whether or not we like him. I’m a Democrat, but I would have rather been wrong and seen Bush (and our country) succeed over the past few years, than to be proven right about why I didn’t like him in the first place. Our country should come before party every time!
perhaps the cap players, living in the center of democracy, have been distracted by the election. now that is over we can all focus on hockey….cap players with improved effort and play, and cap fans with red outs.
Absolutely! Beautifully stated.
Well spoken Ted. HOWEVER… we need to KEEP TALKING… but TO each other… not AT each other. Also, we need to LISTEN. That’s the only way we will progress as a country.
GO CAPS!
