I was very proud of our team last night. I thought they played well and controlled the pace of the hockey game.
I don’t know if I have ever seen a line accumulate 12 points together as a unit in a game before and be on the ice for all five goals.
I thought both of our goaltenders were stellar in net.
We can always improve our performance but that was a big win on the road to get us back into a small divisional point standings lead.
We have played 15 games and have 20 points. We have, I believe, the 4th best record in the Eastern Conference now but we have played 15 games to the NY Rangers 19 games as an example.
Alexander Semin leads the league in many scoring categories and here comes Alex Ovechkin too.
If we get good NHL goaltending, we can be a very good team.
We are now where we belong. We have to play this kind of hockey and get healthy as a team as well. Go Caps!
Great effort. Caps get a bunch of Eastern Conference opponents in December (13 of 14 games). It’s moving month!
Best and most complete game this season so far. We have the faith that the talent will shine.
Last night’s effort was outstanding. The goaltending was superb from both of the guys, the defense was a little shaky at times (Jurcina took too many restraining penalties), but they put up a great effort in the 2nd and 3rd knowing the goalie was there in relief. Up front, everyone played well, and of course, the Ovie-Backstrom-Semin line was outstanding. (I’m sure the Caps have had lines with more than 12 points in a game.. the game in 2003 where they beat Florida 12-2 probably had that with Jagr’s line).
Right now, if Fedorov is ready to go on Friday, he’d be playing D, skating with Poti (or Erskine, with Sloan staying with Poti). Hopefully Mo will get better soon too!
The way this season is going so far is great, but we’re only about 1/5 of the way there yet, and after this weekend’s doubleheader with Jersey, there’s that brutal trip west waiting. Of course, once that’s done and the Caps come back, the only game left outside of the Eastern Time Zone is March 10 in Nashville…
