@Jack N.

Semin is not a superstar-in-waiting, he IS a superstar. Semin always had a lightning quick wrist with longer reaches and growling hunger. Have to agree with Mike L., when Feds showed up, Semin pulled all those skills together. And, they started getting vodka shots together after games, so maybe that was it.

Anyone with a brain can see that GMGM and the Caps have a plan. Line up the expiration and/or structure of JT's contract, Kozlov, Nylander's, and you can see the plan in place for the increase in both Semin's and Backstroms contracts. People need to relax, and cheer for the fact that we aren't all Tampa Bay fans, those poor people are truly screwed.

Semin is a superstar-in-waiting. It might happen this year, but certainly in a year or two he's going to be a daily fixture on the highlight reel. Question: Is he OK? We didn't see him during the third period of the Friday night Devils game.

anyone that doubted Semin's ability wouldn't know talent if it bit him in the ass. I was relieved when you guys re-signed Semin! Fleischmann has been the guy I've been "waiting for" to come around and start being a big time player and not just a prospect. I think he's about 1 year behind Semin, hopefully less, and will turn into a reliable 30 goal performer for many years to come. If the Caps can have Semin and Ovie in the 50 range and Flash in the 30 range, then you have 3 scorers on 3 lines (unless you keep Semin and Ovie together which has been a good pairing) - but either way, 3 scorers will mean lots of playoff games in the future! GO CAPS!!

For the record, Im Don in MD for anybody who watches NHL live. Pull one of the shoes at the end of the season and you will here me say that Semin is a ticking time bomb who was going to blow up and be battling Ove for the points lead this season. I never doubeted Semin for longer then one of his bad shifts. Hes always been amazing and even if he came out and turned the puck over three times on a shift he would come out on the next one and get 4 SOG and a goal. It was the consistancy that was lacking at the time and everyone should have been able to see that a guy with that amount of talant will find it eventually. Mikes rite thow. I dont think it would have happened this year as crazy as it has if it wernt for Federov. What hes done for this team cant be seen on a score sheet. Thats why everyone should be writing him in on the all star ballot, along with Tom Poti and Brent Johnson.

It was never a question of Semin's talent, it was his dedication way back when. I think the defining moment in Semin's career was when Sergei Fedorov showed up here in DC, sat him down and told him a couple of things...his play since Feds has gotten here has been outstanding.

Ditto for everyone else. In the 18 games Feds played in in 2007-08 in the regular season, the Caps were 14-4-0, ten over .500 They finished 12 over .500. This year, in 15 games, the Caps are 9-4-2, which is 20 points, good for a .667 points percentage. Getting 2 of every 3 points means at the end of the year you have 109 points... that's a pretty nice number.

Of course, going in, I estimated the Caps would finish with 112 points (50-20-12). I can still see that happening.
