Despite the Bad Economy

It seems that people want to escape and go see films at theaters and go to hockey games too as we were very close to a sellout this past Friday at the Caps vs. Devils game.

My family went to see the new James Bond movie on Saturday afternoon. The theater was sold out. Shows were sold out. The Mall was packed. There was no place to park. Dining establishments were overbooked too.

Here is my film review for Quantum of Solace: James Bond drives fast; James shoots people; people die. James drives a boat fast; James shoots people; people die. James runs fast; James shoots people; people die. James looks good. His suits get dirty but they don’t rip.

We loved the film though. Go escape the bad news. Go see a movie. And then head to the games. Go Caps!

Grateful for the Point

That was a tough game, the second in two nights - back to back - in the Devil’s barn.

There were lots of injuries and big names out such as Semin; Fedorov; Morrisonn; Johnson and we are still missing Brian Pothier.

Our goaltending - as strange as it may sound as we let in five goals - was actually quite good. We are a gutsy team; a team that plays with heart; and we do have some unique and one of a kind talents like Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. What a play and pass and catch and shot with one second left on the clock! All I could say was “Wow!”

We now have earned points in nine of 10 games. We now have some time to heal before we head out west for a very tough road trip and set of games.

And to all of those folks who were whining about Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom and their productivity, it would be OK to stop now. :-)
