No More Friends on Facebook

I have reached the max. I can’t allow any more people into my friends area on Facebook or it will blow up. I am only five folks away from 5,000. It is amazing how virality works on the web. I reached this number in a little more than one year’s time.

So either I have to start deleting folks or NOT take any new friends in. So don’t be offended if you are delisted or if I don’t accept your friend request. Sorry. I wish Facebook would up the number of friends allowed.

  1. just cut the people you don’t knnow- for goodness sakes you and I are friends and while its a nice dream that the owner is friends with everyone who lives outside of washington and comes to dc 1-2x a year to relive the joy of past season ticket holding… it isn’t so. Erase everyone and start over.

  2. What’s the point of a social networking site that limits a customer to 5,000 “friends”? When one considers the hundreds of millions of people who use the web daily, 5,000 isn’t exactly a gigantic number. Clearly the technology exists to enable one to have 50,000 friends or 500,000 friends. It’s not like scientists haven’t discovered how to do it. So, really: why so few? I’m not a Facebook user (I just don’t want one more thing to check); but 5,000 seems decidedly small — especially if their business model purports to link worlds of people, 5,000 people isn’t that big a planet.
