We needed the two points last night. We played well while being short handed by eight players and the Hershey kids added great energy and enthusiasm to the roster.I am grateful for the sold out building; for the loud crowd; and for the team remaining unbeaten at home.
We remain in first place in the division; 5th in the East; and are the highest goal scoring team in the East. And in case anyone hadn’t noticed, Alex Ovechkin is climbing the point leading board and is now 3rd in the NHL with 29 points and is 6th in goals scored.
I am very proud of the team being so well positioned at Thanksgiving – compared to last year – and while having played so many games on the road (13 vs. 8 at home) and being so shorthanded. Can you name one NHL team that has lost more productivity out of the lineup than us to date?
Enjoy your Turkey and trimmings today. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics.
As someone who was at the game before Thanksgiving last season (I admit that was chanting “Fire Hanlon”), it’s hard to imagine that the team has come so far in a year. Amazingly, I had enough fun at last year’s blowout loss (and at many other games) to convince myself (okay, my wife) to buy my own season tickets this year; however, it’s hard to believe that this year’s sold out sea of red took place in the same building as last year’s hockey wake.
Congrats, Ted. I was not a believer after you gutted the team following the Jagr debacle. But in my first full year back in DC after graduation, I’m now a season ticket holder. You and George McPhee have given Caps fans a lot to be thankful for…
Happy Thanksgiving!
I wanted to thank you for getting me so committed to the Capitals. I had no interest in hockey until you invited all of my middle school (went to middle school with your son) to a home game a long time ago! Since then, I’ve been in love with the Caps.
Was just at the game wednesday night and had a great time! (Nice to be off of the 3 game streak) It’s great to watch some of my home countries heros play so well on my favorite team. Heja Backstrom och Nylander!
Have a wonderful break with your family and GO CAPS!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Mr. Leonsis!
Mr. Ted,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well… It was a great atmosphere last night and the game was proof positive that the rebuild has been worth it. Your organization is well on its’ way to making the steps to become a power in the NHL for a long time. The Hershey boys jumped in and did not look out of place and played great. It’s an exciting time to be a Caps fan!
See you at Verizon – Rock the Turkey!
Same to you and your family. We love you Ted!! And we love “our” CAPS!
Ted, Great game last night!!
My family & I attended the game and we had a very nice time. We thought the Kids Club Night was a HUGE success.
A special ‘Thanks!’ goes out to the Caps Spirit Squad and the work they did for the kids activities. Each and every member of the Squad treated the kid’s great. Nice job ladies… thank you!!
I also want to give a tip of the hat to ‘Horn Guy’… and pass along a comment from my 7yo daughter. Somewhere in the middle of the 3rd period, he played his ‘Lets Go Caps’ on the horn. My daughter asked me ‘Why does he do that so much??’ I told her that he was trying to get the fans excited. Her reply was “We’re already excited… I think he does it just to make the kids have sore throats!” (from all the yelling). LOL!! So Horn Guy… its your fault my daughter has a sore throat this morning…
Again, great game… thanks for a very nice family night out!!
