With all of our injuries, did anyone see us winning 3-0 over a very talented and very good Montreal team?
We are a very good team at home. In fact, we haven’t lost yet in regulation and we play with a lot of heart and a lot of pride. This was a very satisfying win. I am proud of the team; the coaching staff; and of all the players who bonded in adversity and got us the two points. Well done.
@Bob Cobe – The road loss was bad, but playing 7 games in 11 days with 7 regulars injured isn’t something that most teams can do easily. If you took two of the top 4 forwards as well as 4 starting defensemen from San Jose (including their top offensive defenseman) and then sent the Sharks out to play 7 games in 11 nights with the first 3 games on the east coast followed by a stop-over in Minnesota, then two home games, and a game in Phoenix on day 11, I bet they’d probably go about 3-4 also…
This is a rough stretch, and the Caps did pretty well with it. They’ll be in the playoffs (at a minimum they’ll win the Southeast Division) and right now, even after the Columbus game, they’re on a pace for 99 points. Once Semin, Green, Fedorov, etc. get back in there, the pace will get better too.
In going over the schedule before the season, I figured the Caps would be in the low 30s in points… they’re at 29, which is just shy of that figure. There’s nothing terribly wrong here, other than the steadily climbing man-games missed, but that will change I suspect…
It was a complete effort from all the guya out there. They looked good in front of Theo, and they played hard. They didn’t get a lot of chances but they eventually wore down the Habs and were able to extend the lead. Give the Habs some credit, they played pretty well too, and only showed some fatigue later in the game.
But yet another loss on the road last night. When your #1 horse doesn’t score, your team isn’ t much. Softest team in the NHL who wants to play hard = many injuries = 0 chance of advancing in the playoffs. Remember where you read it first, I will be there to remind you after your first round exit, if you make the playoffs.
Didn’t see it coming, in fact, had a feeling it could be an ugly night when I arrived at the Phone Booth. But the kids from Hershey got it done. Give hard hats to the entire defensive corps and Jose.
