I read today that USA Today gave us a B+ grade for the season so far. We all want to be A+ students so we have work still left to do. 
By the way, I give USA Today a C- grade for being a petroleum based product that is shrinking and laying off people. If they can grade everyone whenever they want, we can grade them back, right?

2008 was a great year. It was a year of progress and change and growth and promise.
Yikes. I can’t believe I am typing those words.
For the Washington Capitals and our fans, we just finished a remarkable 12 month span, a span in which we were 52-23-6 and for the third best record in the NHL. We made the playoffs last season after a remarkable run. We won the Southeast Division crown too. We are now up 12 points in this year’s race as well in the division.
This season, for the first three months of play, we have the second best record in team history.
We have the reigning all world player on our team in Alex Ovechkin. He is second in the NHL in scoring this season as well. He won every award last season.
And this season, we are playing astonishingly well in spite of a rash of - no - a crazy amount of injuries. Who knows how good we can really be when healthy?
We have also shown the world that DC is a hockey town. We have a great and passionate fan base. Business is booming. The community has embraced this team even in a very tough and gloomy economic environment. So thank you Caps fans everywhere!
Here is to a healthy and happy 2009 Caps fans. I am hopeful I can say, ”You ain’t seen nothing yet!” Happy New Year!

The last time the New York Times said we would go to the Stanley Cup Finals, we didn’t even qualify for the playoffs so burn while reading.
And I have an announcement to make too. I am buying Jim Balsillie’s Blackberry and moving it to DC, two of them, Storms to be exact.
Wow. That was a huge win on the road against the #2 team in the land. Congratulations! It looks like the Georgetown men’s basketball team was under estimated in the pre season polls being picked in the 7th spot in the Big East. As noted, the experts are usually the last to know what is up.
Georgetown is a small school. When we compete straight up with much larger schools and beat them on their home floor, it feels good for the alumni out there. We are proud of the program and the way the team handles itself on and off the court.
They be cooler than you and me, that is for sure. Check it out.
He did the right thing last night scoring into the empty net. All is well with him and Brooks, trust me.
