Coney Island, Baby

Oh gosh, what a wonderful film. Once in college a little preppy girl asked me, “Where do you summer, Nantucket or the Cape?” I proudly answered, “Coney Island, baby. Coney Island.”

This is such a lovely and well made three minute film. It made me think about my childhood and my dad. I learned to drive in Coney Island. I jumped in the ocean there with the Polar Bear Club with my dad once, too.

  1. Teddy, Your right, it’s a great film and although it’s brief it will evoke lots of memories for many people. Coney Island somehow does that! The crowds, the smells, the sounds, the traffic, the elevated train, the colors, the rides, the sand the ocean all were big pieces of my childhood. The beach was always packed. And I have to admit, I spent some time at the Children’s Lost & Found. The look on my parents faces is something I will always remember. And I can still hear the elevated train stopping and going while eating my Nathan’s Hot Dog. At the end of the day it was ALWAYS a tradition for my dad to take us on the Cyclone Roller Coaster. My mom just enjoyed watching! Life was really good.
