LOL Again and Again

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

I think the comments are funny and the post is funny and well done. Japers is always welcomed in our arena, in my box and in my in basket.

Good for Japers and our fans for caring so much.

My question to all of you is this: Do you think I don’t care or we don’t care about the quality of the ice?

Of course we do! We care about everything related to our players. We try to go first class everywhere. We are focused on this issue, which is my point. We don’t need fans to tell us to focus on it, IT IS OUR JOB to focus on it. The drum beat is just getting old. Quoting players from a game last season has zero to do with what is happening in our building today.

We care. We hear you. We listen to our players. I just don’t get why you think this is a bigger issue than we think it is? Just saying…

A Perspective: Celebrate Every Day

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

You must read this story.

It is about a very good friend of mine named Joe Casella. Joe is close with several of my partners as well.

Joe is a wonderful human being. He is married with children and another one on the way.

He is founder of Elite Fitness Concepts, a gym and health rehab center in Great Falls, Virginia. The center is now celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Joe is everyone’s best friend. His center has become the “Cheers” of Great Falls.

Joe is like the local celebrity bartender except he kicks your butt when you work out with him. :-) He is beloved in our community.

He is “a god-like” physical specimen; a great man; a great friend; a great husband and dad.

Joe was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma. This is a tough disease. It is no longer something that I read about and think that this awful absestos related malady touches people that are older and people that I don’t know. It has now touched someone I do know in the prime of his life. And it hurts.

Joe is taking on this challenge positively. All of his friends and clients are rallying around him. All of us are praying for him and his family. Joe is a fighter and we are with him every step of the way on this journey.

I sent Joe a couple of the Courage Caps yesterday. He is the bravest soul I know. Keep him in your thoughts and take this story as a good life lesson. Celebrate every day.

I Remember This One David

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Wow. We are getting old. It is hard to believe that the first Macworld was held in January of 1985 and that you remembered who attended that first dinner party. I am touched. Those were the good old days! Read this piece for a blast from the past!

Hate to Say I Told You So…

…But I told you so. Check out this article on Google Chrome. As I noted months and months ago, “Been there, done that.”

Juice

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Good for Juice and good for Karl Alzner. From adversity comes opportunity. We were decimated with injuries on our blue line and some players have embraced the crisis and made the best of it. Chemistry on pairings is a wonderful thing and these two have been rock solid for us over the last half dozen games.

Well played. Keep it up and onward to a hopeful sell-out tonight against the Blues. Red vs. Blue, a true DC matchup, eh? :-)

Again With the Bad Ice?

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

OK, how bad can it be?

We are 12-1-1 on it. :-) We have one of the best records in the league on home ice!

We are on the issue of ice quality as a deliverable to be world class in everything we do. We are trying to make it best it can be and best in the NHL but the ice isn’t bad. The refs rank it after every game. If it was an issue, the media would write something about it. The league would be mandating that we improve the ice quality but it really isn’t that big of an issue right now. I am not trying to skirt responsibility but it just irks me when these statements continue to be made without facts as a basis. Sorry. End of rant.
