At Times Like These
Monday, December 22nd, 2008Mindblowing
Monday, December 22nd, 2008Here we go again - a tough schedule and ten players still out. And just look at the names and the payroll for these players to boot:
- Semin
- Green
- Fedorov
- Clark
- Poti
- Steckel
- Pothier
- Brashear
- Schultz
- Erskine
Ouch. Almost half our payroll and ten starting players were missing in action today at practice.
It’s time to heal and regroup. Tough games are coming like Tuesday on the road. I haven’t experienced anything like this in terms of injuries during our ownership of the team.

Can This Last?
Monday, December 22nd, 2008Here is a good article on NHL economics. In the past, economic issues in our league were always centered on a market by market and team by team basis. However this economic upheaval cuts across all of North America. To date, this season our business is very strong here in DC. I would anticipate that if we play well and make the playoffs and have hopes and dreams, we can keep our momentum going into next season. But I do believe we all have to cut back; worry about our fan satisfaction; and offer more ROI on their entertainment dollar investment and be cautious now more than ever.
Thank you to our fans for believing in the Caps and choosing to spend time and money with us. We hope to earn it every game.
Check Out “Kicking It” on Moviefone
Monday, December 22nd, 2008Interesting three-legged synergy here. Kicking It, a film I produced, is on SnagFilms, a service I founded, which in turn is on Moviefone, a service I acquired when I worked at AOL.
I am touched and happy to bring you a great film this holiday season. I hope you have the time to watch it.
No, Thank You
