George Michael, The Dean of…

…Local sports casting will not have his show seen on NBC any longer due to big budget cutbacks everywhere in traditional media.

I for one will miss him although I know a few of our fans will never forgive him for the attached predictions. Check it out.

I respect George. He was a Caps season ticket holder for a long time so we all must thank him for his business too. I hope to see him back at Verizon Center soon.

Benjamin Button

I am not usually one to enjoy big Hollywood productions starring tabloid movie stars in a film chock full of CGI. When my family wanted to go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night, I was not happy and was expecting the worst.

But I have to admit in this case that I was wrong. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a great film. It is very engrossing with great storytelling and acting. And the CGI helps the story along but it doesn’t get in the way of the directing and storytelling.

Brad Pitt plays the part well. It is his part of a lifetime. I forgot about him as a movie star in this part. He is Benjamin Button and NOT a heartthrob who plays the same part in every film. Well done all around.

The film is long but well edited and a very good holiday film for the family to see.

Thanks For Your Patience

A team will suffer its share of injuries and heartache but I believe as long as we adhere to our system and in a belief in one another, we will be highly competitive. We are that deep and we are that fortunate that we rebooted our team and built around a core of young players and a new three-pronged strategy centered around youth (a pick and a prospect); a new facility at Kettler Capitals Iceplex; and a new AHL affiliate in Hershey. The mash up of those three changes and our new look and feel plus the fan-driven “Redouts” and a great new coach has made us a special franchise. You can sense something in the air, can’t you?

We have come a long way as a franchise in our belief in each other and in the depth of our talent but at some point the injury bug needs to go away and bite someone else. It is getting old and our fans deserve to see what we can do when we are healthy and complete as a team.

Thank you for your patience and your belief in our team. I am hopeful I can say you haven’t seen the best from us yet.

Here is a nice story about two more of our young developing prospects.
