I just knew some writer or hockey personality would see it that way. Brooks was covered and Alex made the right choice. They showed them on TV sitting on the bench, Alex felt bad and Brooks just laughed it off. It will take a lot more than this to break the chemistry of this team. Same situation happened a few weeks ago, Alex had a wide open net and gave it to another (Semin I believe) because he was wide open. Alex Ovechkin selfish? Please. I’ve never seen anybody happier when a teammate scores than our #8.
“Instead of passing, Ovechkin took the easy goal himself. He said after the game that he saw a blue Toronto jersey closing on Laich. If so, he has remarkable peripheral vision.”
Alex does have good vision. Brooks was being closed on fast, and might not have even got the pass. The goal sealed the game, and gave the good guys two more points.
