Good Move

Thank you President-Elect Obama. The first bunch of cash infusion into the banks hasn’t reached consumers. Instead it went as dividend payments to bank shareholders or is propping up balance sheets or has been used to make acquisitions of other distressed banks by the bigger banks.

In fact, it is a non event. Half a trillion dollars and it was like spitting into the wind. It has had zero affect as intended. Consumers and small businesses haven’t received any of these dollars which is a shame if not bordering on criminal. This system must be fixed and fast before all of the money goes away and is used in a manner that was not intended by our Government. We must always remember that these dollars are OUR dollars, our tax dollars, and our balance sheet that the government uses to borrow this money. These deficits will be inherited by future generations. We must see a benefit from these loans. No one has signed up to help the banks if the banks won’t help consumers and businesses.

Pray for a Great Man

Jack Kemp is a great man; a great leader for our country; a great businessman; a great athlete; a great husband and dad; and a great friend to us all. He is also a great Caps fan and is very close to several of our partners in our sports team.

It was announced that Jack has cancer and is now in the battle of his life. He is a fighter and he is strong and we have his back. Pray for Jack and his family. Get well soon my friend.

New indieWIRE A-coming

Check out this first person byline by Eugene Hernandez regarding the new indieWIRE, which will be unveiled at Sundance later this month. I think folks will love the look, feel and new capabilities of the service. I am proud that we acquired indieWIRE and believe it is the ultimate one stop shop of all info and news regarding indie films in the entire universe. I have been using the new service behind a firewall and think it is really terrific. I think you all will like it as well.

Good

Good. Some of our players were disrespected. Good. They will play with a chip on their shoulder for the rest of the season. They can rest up for the second half of the season too. Good.

Good. We respect them and treat them like All-Stars. We will pay them like All-Stars too. Good. Our fans treat them like they are All-Stars too because they are, right? Good.

We will learn that the way we will get the respect we deserve is to win a Stanley Cup. Good.

End of this subject. Good.

A Big Tent

We want to make the Washington Capitals a world class organization and we want to welcome all fans – old, present and new - to the joys of Caps hockey.

I am asking as a personal favor to our long-standing fans for you to put out the welcome mat to our new fans and friends. It is important for us to extend our reach and build out our audience for the great game of hockey and now is the time to do it.

You all have the keys to the bandwagon. Drive folks around on it. Help us to build a huge community around the NHL and the Washington Capitals. Welcome everyone – old and new - to the team. I promise to always cherish our long-standing relationships and we will never forget what got us to this point in our development.

Thanks so much. A bandwagon is a good thing. Roll it out – all are welcome here. Go Caps!
