We are For Real

Don’t you think?

We have played a pretty tough schedule post All-Star game: Boston. Detroit. Ottawa. New Jersey.

We have garnered 7 of 8 points.

We have played quite well against the tougher foes in the East. We have a 14 point lead over the number 2 team in the Southeast division.

But we are all still restless. We know we can play better defensively and play better on the penalty kill. We still seem to be bitten by the injury bug with Clark, Johnson, Kozlov and Pothier.

As an aside, I knew Mike Green would play with a chip on his shoulder post All-Star team snub. He is looking like a first team All-Star on D to me of late!

  1. We are for real. Playing strong against Detroit and New Jersey showed we are true Stanley Cup contenders. For defense, we need to bring back King Karl now that we have the salary cap room. On a different note, Mr. Leonsis, I wish my boss would take after your management style. I like how you stress the positives first, then talk about where improvement is needed.

  2. I think it’d be worth it to get your players snubbed from the all star if they’d star playing like Mike Green has been! Seriously though, the guy is on fire and I am loving the show. It was a shame he got overlooked last year, it was a crime that he got overlooked this year, but here’s hoping that the norris trophy voters are taking note!

  3. The post-All-Star play has been remarkable. The team has played well and has a 3 game winning streak to show for it. They have a potential “let-down” game coming up (LA) followed by a division game against the team that has been the second best in the division and is one of 3 teams to beat the Caps in DC. This 2 game homestand is critical, and it would be great to get all 4 points (and especially great if we can beat Florida in regulation).

  4. “Just Win Baby.”

Looking forward to some home cooking Thursday and Saturday. Saturday night seems to bring out the best of us. It will be LOUD.

  5. Ted,

What is the backstory on the Green snub (again) anyway? Those of us on the outside can only speculate. But it should be clear to anyone with a brain that Green is the most entertaining defenseman in the game right now in terms of sheer skill.

I just don’t get it. Not even on the reserves? And the Caps only get one representative when we have all this talent and all this success this year?

I really scratch my head at the NHL sometimes. Those guys sometimes seem to go out of their way to make stupid decisions.
