Mike is an All-Star. He is a Norris Trophy candidate. He is a foundational player within the nucleus of our young core group.
He is a great teammate and a great kid. And he wants to win a Stanley Cup more than get individual recognition.
We are blessed as a franchise to have such positive attitude and a singular focus as an organization.
My bet is that the NHL will start to market Mike as one of the league’s brightest young stars. The recognition is deserved.
Very magnificent information. I think im gonna stick around and read about 4 of your posts. Yours respectfully
I remember telling all my friends about Mikey! He has blossomed very well, I feel as if he has alot of growing to do!
Mike Green is definitely an amazing player, and will be for a long time. I do not think he is a Norris candidate, yet. There are still a good number of defensemen with better defensive play but with less offensive skill. Lidstrom, Chara, and Phaneuf are all better defensively than Green. I think Chara should win the Norris this year because he has played amazingly, and he always makes the other d-man with him look better, and has throughout his career. I love Mike Green, and think that he will get a few Norris trophies on his shelf by the end of his career, but not yet, not quite yet.
People need to realize that Ovie shouldn’t conform to the NHL marketing mold, but rather he’s patiently waiting to provide a bold new image that may actually generate some real waves across the landscape.
I too am impressed with Green’s play. He’s truly a joy to watch, especially in the offensive zone. However, I don’t think he’s quite Norris material yet. On more than one occasion every game or so he gets smoked and/or out of position in the defensive end, in a way that you never see happen to Niklas Lidstrom. When he can be 100% in the defensive zone as Lidstrom is, Greens’s a good bet to win the Norris.
From your keyboard to Gary Bettman’s ears. I agree 100%.
