Chris Clark had surgery yesterday. He will miss the rest of the season.
Brent Johnson is about to have surgery. He most likely will miss the rest of the season.
Victor Kozlov is hurt and will miss a few games.
Brooks Laich is hurting after taking a shot in the calf.
Mike Green is on his way to getting his 20th goal as a D man.
Alex Semin got his 20th goal, three seasons in a row for him, after 15 seconds of the game starting.
Alex Ovechkin scored his 200th goal in just four seasons to put him in historic company, one of only four players to do so.
It was Military Night with the brass all out in full force.
We laid an egg in an exciting game to watch but a game that was played down a level instead of playing up to our high standards.
We will shake it off and get ready now for a very tough game against Florida on Saturday. They are sneaking up on us in the standings and we play them five more times this season. They will play this game like it is a playoff game. We must be ready to match their intensity.
Yeah, not the boys’ best showing, but I liked to see how upset they were at the end. They know they shouldn’t have let themselves lose that game, and hopefully that inspires them to push harder against FLA.
Gonna miss Clarke and Johnny for the season though, that hurts. Here’s hoping for a speedy and full recovery.
Last night was just one game, but look at some of our losses this year. FLA, LA x 2, EDM, OTT x 2, CBJ x 2. We have played down to a lot of teams this year, which is somewhat alarming. Here’s hoping Saturday vs FLA isn’t another rotten egg.
Off nights happen. It wasn’t the prettiest game, but the guys were able to rally and make the third period interesting. They don’t want to lose and based on their performance last night, they don’t like to lose. The regular season is a decent time to figure out what the strengths and weaknesses of the team and the system (and individual players within the system) are and prepare for the playoffs. The team is on the right track – a couple of years ago, it would have ended 5-2 instead of 5-4. On to the next game…Bruce will have them ready, we’re confident of that.
