I had never heard that before - the SOB Line - Semin, Ovechkin and Backstrom. Very clever! Whoever wants to take credit for coining that should do so here. Well done.

No offense, but the BOS/SOB line name is not original. It started about 10 years ago…does Bondra-Oates-Simon ring a bell to anyone? It was usually called the BOS line but some put them in order of position (Simon at LW, Oates at C, Bondra at RW) and it was SOB.
….WE…LOVE….IT!! Think I just found the next great Caps tee shirt! Kudos to the fan that came up with that one..!
SOB… LOL thats good. It was probably another teams goalie that came up with that. Every time that line scored on him, he could be heard saying “son of a ……”
OB & SOB Line – Ovechkin, Backstrom and SOB
I’m not sure who came up with it, but it’s definitely apt. They make other teams’ defenders say it when they have the puck and they make the fans say it when one of them takes a weak or lazy penalty.
We love ‘em, though they drive us nuts sometimes.
Let’s go Caps!
It could very well be the most entertaining line in the league, but I’d rather have Semin play on the second line. Championships aren’t won with one scoring line.
How about F-Troop for the Fleischmann-Federov-Fehr line?
Haha, nice. That reminds me of the days of Simon/Oates/Bondra.
How about F-Troop for line 2?? Any takers??
I’m not going to say that I was the inventor, but I have been using “SOB line” as common vernacular on my blog dating back to early November.

Thanks, Ted — this is a little off topic, but I wanted to applaud you for the “mentors” trip/program where some of the Caps fathers/others travel with the team. What a terrific program! It reminds me of the Naval Academy’s “Father-Son” wrestling camp for boys under 10 and their dads. Not only did it contribute to a successful two-game road trip, but what a classy thing to do. Do other teams do that? If not, they should. I know you’ve done it for a few years now, but kudos nonetheless.
