Doesn’t Seem Possible

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Judging by some comments of late on message boards, my blog and in some media circles, you would never know that:

  • This Caps team regular season record after 76 games is the second best in team history with 99 points;
  • We have had 6 straight months of above .500 performances and not a single losing month this season for the first time in team history. What was that again about inconsistency?
  • We have a legitimate chance to amass the most points and most wins in team history as well.

So while we have lots of work left to do this season and in the playoffs, let us lay off some of the bad mouthing about this team’s play of late. We have actually been one of the better performing teams and most consistent teams in the NHL this year. I hope I didn’t just jinx us for the month of April and beyond but these are the facts.

A Three-Headed Monster

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I have been hard at work on my blog for three years now. I blog anywhere from 3 to 6 times per day.

Using a new service from TweetDeck, I now blog as usual but my blog posts automatically go into my status update on Facebook as well as into my Twitter account, TedLeonsis.

So I have created a three-headed monster and hope I am not intruding too much on your time and pixels.

This kind of interoperability is very impressive to me. Write once and publish many places at the same time - what a great idea!

Game On

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

OK - here we go. The race is on now.

New Jersey has played 76 games. We have played 76 games. We have 99 points and New Jersey has 98 points.

We are in second place in the East. New Jersey is in third place. We are both gunning for Boston who has 106 points but has only played 75 games. And we are all looking in the rear view mirror at the other teams with 90 or more points.

Behind Every Great Company and Feature…

Monday, March 30th, 2009

…There is a great press agent.

AOL email has had an “unsend” button for more than a dozen years. This is so funny. Google announces this feature and it makes news on CBS. AOL has it for a dozen years and it is considered an old and outdated email client. :-)

Go figure. How many PhDs did it take to copy this old AOL mail feature 12 years later?

One Million Words in the English Language

I love trivia like this as posited in this article on Economist.com!

Now that is a lot of words to learn and use on my blog. Read it here.

Eighteen Players from Hershey

Monday, March 30th, 2009

There are 18 different players from Hershey that have been in our lineup this season. Eighteen players have tasted the NHL and have helped their own careers while helping our franchise to a playoff berth.

I believe this story and this theme of our rebuild has been underestimated. And underreported.

Can you name an NHL and AHL partnership that is thriving more than ours?

Frozen Four

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Here is the news release regarding the Frozen Four to be held at Verizon Center.

We are so very pleased to have played a small role in landing this great event here in DC.

The city will be rocking with all things related to college hockey. This was a great job by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance and by Washington Sports and Entertainment. Enjoy these games while we head on the road during the last week of the season.

Inside the School of Assassins

Wow, another awesomely great film here. Really powerful.

I love documentary films, the original reality programming. This one is very moving. It combines religion, military, personal demons and overcoming it all to shine.

Check this film out ASAP. Click here.
