Here is news on Club Scarlet, the first program in the NHL aimed at the female fans of our team.
We are off to a good start. We have great female bloggers now and we have very high levels of interest in joining communities of interest by our fans. Check it out here.
I’m still very hopeful that Club Scarlet will provide meaningful, enjoyable content appropriate for female fans of all levels of hockey knowledge and interest. I eagerly await fresh features on the site and interesting opportunities for women (and men – as far as I have heard, both are joining). But I’m not happy that the Washington Times has called Club Scarlet, “an untrammeled girlie-girl celebration of hockey and the he-men who play it.”
I’m not sure who’s more objectified here – the “girlie-girls” or the “he-men.” I’m not a member for the beefcake. I think Club Scarlet has yet to flesh out its site and offerings, and that will define its purpose in the realm of Caps hockey. Likewise, it will define my own interest and enjoyment.
Once again you guys are ahead of the curve… My wife loves it and it’s a great way to build the fan base and educate those who are new to the game. Bravo Ted! You going to do a few glam pics like the boys too? WHy not include the owner too?
I have been a Caps fan since we became stationed in the area in 1985. I loved hockey and wanted to support the home team. We have supported the team through thick and thin. Have gone to several games now that we are “empty nesters” including the game against “Cindy” and the pens a couple of weeks ago and have become Season Tickets holders for the first time for 2009-10 since the kids are gone we can afford the tickets now (lol).
Thanks so much for the scarlet caps as a female Caps fan it is wonderful to be able to blog with fellow female fans. There are fans of other teams on the net that say they wish their team would have thought of reaching out to the female fans….Thanks so much, a loyal female fan of the Caps!
