Excuse me, but we needed some grit, which clearly is lacking and defensemen who will clear the crease and not allow our goalie to get bowled over. There were players that could have been had. Carcillo would be a plus over some of our regulars (yes we need that type of player). And why did GMGM put us in a spot that we could not acquire a player because we had 50 contracts. I guess no deal was better than a bad deal, but other teams improved and we didn't.

I realize that this comment is not about this topic, but I have to say that the Verizon Center ice hit a new all-time low point tonight. I was horrified that the crew was unable to clean up the blood from the Leafs' player who got injured because it appeared that the ice was too soft to freeze the blood to allow it to be scraped off the ice. Playing the rest of the period with the really large blood stain on the ice was disgraceful. I have never seen this problem at other buildings when a player was injured and bled on the ice.

Patience is one thing Ted. And I agree with Dan's points. I've no major problems with no deals yesterday (unlike most fans). But the team's played horribly against 'weaker" teams for a month now and Bruce has been as effective as Hanlon in the face of it. Enough ignoring the elephant in the room: the players who "can't get up for each game," the stupid/lazy penalties, the senseless over-the-glass delays of game, nobody wearing the C while Clark is away, and the dull games in a half empty arena remind me too much of many of the TEN years of your ownership. If it smells, and it does, don't just email and blog. Take action!

There are better goalies than Theodore in this league, but were any of them available? Not to my knowledge.

Penny wise and pound foolish. Caps needed a goalie. Playoff caliber players will shoot high on Theodore, pick the top corners if they are smart & talented, which they will be, and if they have studied video. The opposition quickly recognized the weakness the last game and did it to Neuvirth the other night.
