Playoff-like Game Win

That was a big game and a big win for us on the road against a desperate team.

Winning 2-1 in OT is how playoff games feel and are played with tight checking; strong D play; and lots of intensity and checking.
We didn’t get frustrated. We played secure and safe hockey. We let our skill players shine; took many shots on goal; and played the forecheck system well. It reminded me of Caps hockey from last season’s push to the playoffs.

I am pleased with the two points and the team’s togetherness. Onward to Philly.

  1. why are pens fans commenting here??? it’s unpleasant and i think u have pens blog for that.
About the Nashville game fights: Tootoo headbutts Bradley…no extra penalty????
No instigation for Belak against Erskine…What is happening with fairness and consistency in the NHL???It’s about as good as Bush’s presidency///and the pens fans

  2. Nice win last night. One thing — it would really be great if coaches and players would stop with the “going to war” comments. In today’s Post: “We knew they went to war for us, so our guys took it upon themselves to go to war for them,” Boudreau said.

Boudreau is hardly the first to do this. NFL players and coaches come to mind.

This weekend against the Pens, the team honored an Army Specialist — someone how had actually gone to war — during a TV timeout. Not trying to be the PC police, but it’s an analogy that’s really doesn’t have a place in pro sports.

Anyway, end rant, nice win and hope to see you in the post-season.
