A Little Gloating

Human nature is an interesting thing to behold.

I receive an awful lot of email from fans, most from long term passionate fans who have opinions on lots of matters.

When we win, I don’t get a lot of emails. When we lose, I get a ton.

Leading up to last night’s game, the emails I received were along these lines:

“The Flyers will run roughshod over you. Without Brashear in the lineup, you have no chance”;

“Your team isn’t big and it isn’t tough and it doesn’t play playoff-like hockey”;

“Your goaltending isn’t any good and your penalty kill is weak”;

“You don’t know how to win on the road and you play scared in hostile environments”;

“I am concerned that you may not make the playoffs and that both Florida and Carolina will chase you down”

And these emails are from our own fans! Our own professed biggest Caps fans. You should read the emails I get from Flyers fans. :-) Sometimes I have to laugh out loud.

  1. Oh yes, DC fans…the same guys who talk about Redskins in the Superbowl in August and by December are talking about draft picks. Most are fickle, sad and ignorant.

  2. …..Just know for every 1 of them, there are 10 of us that back the team no matter what….Great win and looking forward to seeing them in the playoffs(beating them is sooooo satisfying!!!)

  3. The team is, on average, one of the top 3 in the league for size and weight. The only player listed under 6′ is Theo, and there are only 4 regulars under 200 lbs I think.

    Quite frankly, all those comments are a little silly. Refer those people to Japer and he’ll drop some knowledge on them.

  4. Sometimes small things come in big packages ! I had a small scottish terrier dog who acted and thought he was a german sheperd… Caps are awesome no matter what size they are !!!

    isn’t like everyone 200 pounds?

  6. Hey man, I’m a die-hard Sens fan but heard about those comments from a friend, and I think it’s absolutely disgusting. No “fan” should say that.

  7. Wow…Its unfortuante some “fans ” are like that. The True fans are the ones you don’t hear belly aching when we are expierencing some “growing pains”.

  8. I don’t think any gloating is good esp. when 1/2 of those could still happen :^) I didn’t write any of those, but agree with 3 !!!!
