A Bad Pattern

Our coach says it all in this article. We didn’t play with passion or with desperation.

Atlanta has won 6 in a row. They are playing to impress the coaches and the organization for next season. They are young, hungry and playing for their future playing minutes and a spot on the team.

Good for them but bad for us.

We play 5 in a row on the road. We had won 5 in a row on the road. We have a flu bug going through the team and some injuries once again but we can’t play excuses. We have to just finish out the season and gain momentum towards the playoffs.

Here’s hoping we get it together for tonight’s game against a desperate Florida team.

Not showing up for games against “lesser teams” is a season long pattern. This isn’t the flu, injuries, or any other “there’s no excuse” excuse. One or two losses to bad teams? Fine. It happens. A slump at some point in the season that includes losses to bad teams? Again: it happens. But TWELVE LOSSES in games against the likes of the Trashers and the Leafs? If the Caps had 3/4ths of the points they gave away this year, they’d be in first. Read it and reap:

    Oct 10 - Thrashers 7-4
    Oct 23 - Coyotes 2-1
    Nov 20 - Kings 5-2
    Nov 24 - Wild 4-3
    Nov 29 - Blue Jackets 3-0
    Jan 9 - Blue Jackets 3–0
    Jan 13 - Oilers 5–2
    Jan 20 - Senators 3-2
    Feb 5 - Kings 5-4
    Feb 20 - Avalanche 4-1
    Mar 5 - Maple Leafs 2-1
    Mar 16 - Thrashers 5-1

    TWELVE LOSSES: 48-21

Average score in all games: 4-1.75.
