Game On

OK - here we go. The race is on now.

New Jersey has played 76 games. We have played 76 games. We have 99 points and New Jersey has 98 points.

We are in second place in the East. New Jersey is in third place. We are both gunning for Boston who has 106 points but has only played 75 games. And we are all looking in the rear view mirror at the other teams with 90 or more points.

A win by us and a loss by Carolina gets us the Southeast division title and, at the very least, a third place automatic berth in the playoffs.

Six games left to play: Three at home and three on the road.

We have 46 wins, the most wins ever by a Caps team is 50 wins in the regular season.

All of a sudden, these last twelve days of the season have a lot of drama attached to them. Game on. Here we go!

  1. Finishing second is a big deal. It guarantees home ice advantage for 2 rounds instead of one. If Caps and Devils finish second and third, and both win first round, second place finisher in conferenc gets home ice for second round. A big deal. Watch how hard they play from here in, ramping up to playoffs.

  2. ….1st would be nice, but 2nd is a must..much rather face the Rangers than the Pens in the 1st round…and yes, does give some drama to the last 2 weeks….!

  3. Go Caps!!! Everyone needs to relax and whether the Caps finish second or third, there can be only one true goal and that is the Stanley Cup.

  4. Sorry, Ted, but I’m for the B’s. Could be our year, but I know the road will first have to go through DC.

  5. Ted – I am rooting for the Caps over the Devils for #2 spot. My hometown Bruins will hang on for #1 for regular season…playoffs who knows. I saw a Caps game this year in Boston – you have an exciting team that could go far!
