Playoff-like Game Win

That was a big game and a big win for us on the road against a desperate team.

Winning 2-1 in OT is how playoff games feel and are played with tight checking; strong D play; and lots of intensity and checking.
We didn’t get frustrated. We played secure and safe hockey. We let our skill players shine; took many shots on goal; and played the forecheck system well. It reminded me of Caps hockey from last season’s push to the playoffs.

I am pleased with the two points and the team’s togetherness. Onward to Philly.

Hockey News Stanley Cup Contenders

Time will tell if this article is right or not even close.

I am glad we are on the list.

Once the playoffs start, anything can happen. We just need to be focused on qualifying for the playoffs. That is top of mind for our organization. And we need to be playing playoff-like hockey to be prepared for the rigors of the playoffs.

Hoping for the Best for Brian Pothier

I hope we have a Hollywood ending here with Brian playing well; showing no ill effects of his injury; and returning to the team for the playoffs. Here is a good article on his progress to date.

I am pleased to show loyalty to a player and support to him and his family. We are all pulling for him.

Brian was a key free agent signing for us and he has been missed. He is a mobile and skilled D man. He is very steady and would add experience to our blue line in the playoffs and add some additional offensive upside.

When Nylander, Pothier and Clark are all out we miss their skill, grit and experience. It also takes out of the lineup $10.5 million or so of payroll, an amazing stat for us all to consider.

And Thus Ends a Disappointing Season

The Georgetown men’s basketball season is over. Perhaps there will be a NIT bid and the team will continue to play but it appears that a NCAA bid is no longer possible.

We as alums are disappointed by the record of the team this season but do understand that the team was rebuilt as graduating seniors moved on; players transferred; and many freshman played many minutes this season.

The youth movement augers well for the future. The team will return lots of talent and add talent through recruiting. We have a great coaching staff and Georgetown, as a university, is booming as to applicants and buzz so I would expect the team to be better and much more competitive as the years go by.
