Agree with Coach

Bad performance; lack of energy; and listless is a good description of our play.

Today is the trade deadline. It is doubtful we will do anything big as we do not want to alter the core of our team and trade away developing and fine young players for players that can be considered rentals.

The angst around the deadline is overblown and I am hopeful that this pending decision making hasn’t been the root cause of the state of play of late.

I think it is a simple issue, just determination and hard work. The teams we are playing are fighting for playoff standings points. They are desperate and they need the wins. We have lost some of our edge mostly from a psychological standing. It is a long season. We are having a harder time getting up for games.

This is dangerous as we can’t fall into the trap of thinking we are better than we are and that we can turn it on and off at will. We have a great coaching staff and talented vet players in the locker room. We will turn it around ASAP as there is still a lot of hockey left to play this season.

Bear Market – Nice

Here is a terrific article about the Bears. If you haven’t visited Hershey and Hershey Park you are missing out on a slice of Americana. Great people; great venue; great atmosphere; and a top notch AHL franchise.

I always enjoy my visits to Hershey. We are proud to be affiliated with them. As I have noted, the Bears and our relationship with the entire organization was a big and integral part of our overall rebuild plan.

Odd Weekend

We played very well on Saturday against the Bruins - we were focused and had something to play for - while Florida got beat by the Devils in a humiliating fashion.

Then the tables turned and Florida beat us on Sunday and left us mumbling bad things to ourselves.

We gained two points on Florida on Saturday and gave them right back on Sunday. No progress in the standings against one another for either team this weekend.

It seems a simple equation right now - play tight D; stay out of the penalty box; play with energy – and we sure do win a lot of games.

Great teams will get blown out in some match ups. It happens all around the NHL. It isn’t an excuse but it does happen.

It is troubling. We apologize for when it does and all we can do is put the loss behind us and prepare for Tuesday’s tilt against a desperate Hurricane’s team.

Onward and enjoy the snow day.
