We Got the Peanuts and the Circus is in Town

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Please read this article by Michael Wilbon in today’s Washington Post.

It refers to our pending series with Pittsburgh as a “circus” but also as a celebration of great talent and of high-spirited competitiveness between two very good young talent laden teams.

We all must remember that the circus is great family entertainment where safety, security and high value is of paramount importance which is our commitment to everyone.

“A Ten Year Overnight Success”

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

That was my favorite quote from last night at the arena. Thank you. The playoff monkey of not winning a first round playoff series is now off my back.

We can cross another one off the list:

  • Become best Caps team in regular season as to points garnered. Check.
  • Qualify for playoffs. Check.
  • Repeat as SE Division champs. Check.
  • Sell out all games. Check.
  • Win a playoff series. Check.

Final Attendance Numbers - Wow!

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

The Washington Capitals finished 10th in the NHL in paid attendance this year. Only Detroit, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Buffalo sold more tickets than we did in the United States. Who said Washington wasn’t a town that was in love with hockey and its team?

We sold more tickets than even Edmonton in Canada and we sold more tickets than the New York Rangers as an example.

However, we finished 20th in the NHL in ticketing revenues due to our very reasonable ticket pricing policy. We wish to thank all of our fans who bought tickets this year. You all rock! Thank you so much.

Are You Ready?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Are you ready for Game 7 NHL playoff action tonight? I am. If you are ready, let me know. Tell me now. Post away and spread your good cheer, positive intentions and good karma - now - more than ever!

It is the most exciting time in sports, a Game 7 of a NHL playoff series. And hockey fans in general get two Game 7’s tonight as the Capitals play the Rangers and the Devils play the Hurricanes. A true competitive feast.

Mr. President - Our Home is Your Home

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I guess NBC yesterday invited President Obama to Tuesday’s Capitals Game 7 against the New York Rangers.

Our President always has a standing invitation to attend any game he so desires.

See this Washington Times article on the matter. Click here. If anyone is listening at the White House in the scheduling office, come on out and enjoy NHL hockey and see Washington DC at its best Rocking the Red. Thank you Mr. President and Go Caps!

Recharge Those Good Vibes

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Take the day off to rest up and then start to send those ongoing good vibes our way.
We need them and they work! Thank you.

I thought we played smart playoff hockey yesterday on the road. We scored first and we built a comfortable lead and then held on tightly in the third period for a win all to force a Game 7 at home on Tuesday night. It was a great team victory with 5 different players chipping in with goals.
