Nanking Wins Peabody Award

Wow. I am stunned and honored beyond words. Nanking won a Peabody Award alongside John Adams, Hear and Now, The Gates and Entourage all from HBO. Thank you HBO for the support and love and care.

And thank you to all of the creative talent - Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman as co-directors - and all of the actors, producers and people associated with this important and emotionally draining yet uplifting film.

I am truly honored and touched to have made this film. I always keep the people of Nanking and Iris Chang in my thoughts and prayers. This recognition goes to them and to the brave people who stayed behind to save so many lives. We were honored to tell your stories. Thank you.

Congratulations! Just make sure to keep the Cookie Monster away from the award (Ask Stephen Colbert what happened to his Peabody award….)

I read the book several years ago and was deeply moved by Iris’s tale of the horror in Nanking. Then her own story broke, which compounded the sadness of her book.
glad the story was told. Look forward to seeing the movie.
