The Wizards beat the Cavs last night in front of a full house. It was an exciting game and several Washington Capitals players were in the house to show their support for their friends on the Wizards team. It is wonderful to see the mutual support and respect the Wizards and Caps players show one another.
After the game, Alex Ovechkin asked to meet LeBron James. I brokered the meeting and, to be frank, it was fun to see both of these young men get to know one another. They are both passionate, funny and embrace their celebrity. They both are pretty good at what they do too.
It was a fun night. We won the game. LeBron gets a Caps jersey to rock the red and some good memories were created.

Hey Bill B. that is not true as I am both a Wizards and Caps fan! I have seen both Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison at Caps games. I agree Ted…nice to see both teams supporting each other!
Mutual respect? I’ve yet to see a Wizards player at a Caps game. From what I’ve gathered in their comments, they could care less about hockey. Of course, that’s not surprising given Abe Pollin’s feelings about the sport.
Yeah, but how STUPID to be playing Arenas and Haywood and possibly blowing a chance at Griffin? At this point, you play the guys who have been playing all season who will play hard and still lose. That’s the way you get the most balls in the lottery, right?
Ha. In the video it looked like Ovie was a little awestruck by Lebron. I also saw footage of Ovie after the meeting and it just seemed like he was completely speechless. What I love most about Ovie is that he really is just a kid at heart and a fan of great players. He is on the same level of Lebron and yet here he is completely in starstruck! We really are extremely lucky to have him here and be able to watch him continue to grow into a great player and person.
