The Washington Mystics conducted a great draft yesterday and I am very pleased that we chose – with the second pick in the draft - Marissa Coleman of the University of Maryland.
She has size; quickness; can score; can rebound; and has upside. She is a standout local product and our GM and Coach believe she will fit in so very well with the newly constructed lineup. Did you happen to see her amazing performance on ESPN last month? She was outstanding and I thought was the best player in the ACC tournament.
Slowly and surely the Mystics are showing signs of off season progress. We are retooling the team the right way with a balance of veterans and young players. We all can’t wait for the new season to begin.
A great pick, Chas Melvin returning, Matee Ajavon from the Comets’ dispersal draught (really lit us up last season), Lindsay Harding…shaping up to be the most intense Mystics’ training camp ever…let’s hope it leads to the best Mystics season ever!
