I am so relieved that this day has arrived. The waiting to play a playoff game is always the hardest part.
We can now see where we are in our development as a team and as a franchise starting tonight, Game 1, at Verizon Center. The puck drops at 7:06 pm.
My bet is that this series will be a tough one with lots of ups and downs. It will be a long one too and it will exhaust us all emotionally and physically.
Be prepared. There are always surprises in a playoff series. Heroes turn into mortals. Mortals rise to the occasion and become heroes. Injuries can be sustained. Refs and on-ice officials can play a big role and let us not forget about luck. At the end of the day though, playoff hockey is about desire, hard work and trying to exert your will over the other team. I hope we are up to the challenges we will face.
You play a big role too as our seventh man. Wear Red tonight. Be loud and proud. Rock the Red! We feed off of your energy and passion.
I love NHL playoff hockey as a fan and as an owner. The intensity level is hard to beat in any sport.
Everyone starts off 0 and 0. It is a brand new season. Everyone now has a chance to win a Stanley Cup, the hardest trophy to win in all of sports, I believe.
Thank you for all of your support, your time and your hard-earned dollars. We very much appreciate your love and enthusiasm and we hope to make you proud.
Drop the puck. Let’s Go Caps!

Ted,
Rockin’ the Red tonight!!!! It should be a great atmosphere, electric as can be. Hopefully the team skates off the ice tonight with their first regulation victory.
Ted….you just summed up what every hockey, not just Caps fan, is thinking….till tonight…..
…..and to the sea of RED!
Thanks again
Ron
I can’t freakin’ wait! DROP THE PUCK ALREADY!
Ted, you are by far the best sports franchise owner this city has seen since Jack Kent Cooke. Even more than he, you took a town that was far too apathetic to the home team and have created new, fiercely loyal fans. Seeing the sea of red at all of the most recent regular season games has been the biggest success of all in my book. I was there for game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals when the crowd seemed dominated by Red Wing fans. I knew when you purchased the team those days would soon be a thing of the past. So more than anything I thank you for creating this community. No matter what happens in the playoffs this year, it is a foundation the entire team can truly grow upon. LET’S GO CAPS!!
Tonight is the first step in a 2 month Journey… Hopefully the first round will be as quick and painless as possible, with the Caps winning in 5 games (that’s what I expect). The Rangers are good defensively, but inept offensively…if the Caps go at them hard in each game, they’ll win this series right quick (Lundqvist might steal a game, he *is* that good…)
Game on. I’ve been looking forward to this all season.
ted your the man…but quote me..not gunna happen this caps team has been ..IF you will a caged up lion..the last few weaks nothing teams to play against…no records to break the boys were bored…now all is new again..and this greatly talented caps team is gunna turn allota heads in the play offs..1st rangers in 5…next pens in 7…then canes in 7..then wings and caps…the red will rock in d.c. this time….98caps
Nothing compares to NHL playoff hockey ….. Go CAPS!!!
Hopefully the Caps will become the first team with no goalie, no defense, and no toughness to succeed in the playoffs…
Now that game one is in the books, what chance is there to play another goalie and recall Alzner?
It is hard to believe Theodore and Schultz are the best we have. Both’s reflexes and recognition are too slow to compete at a playoff level. I know the defense fails time to time but that’s when a competent goalie steps up and makes a play.
It was nice to see Green hustling again, on defense!
Go Caps!!!
