No, it is NOT what you are thinking.
To take my mind off of things, my family and I went to the movies to see State of Play.
I give it a very positive rating. The cast was one of the best I have seen in a film in a long while. The acting was terrific and it is always a treat to see so many local sites highlighted in a DC based story. Production value in the film was top notch and I enjoyed the story even if it was another “Politicians are bad - business people are bad - news journalists are good” themed screenplay.
I also believe this may be the last romanticized newsroom and newspaper based story we will ever see again. The setting was romantic but it felt like something from the 1980′s. As if the presses would be held at the cost of $100,000 for a story instead of the news just going out onto the web in real time?
Go see the movie. It was terrific.
I recommend the original British mini-series version of this. The casting is really good for that as well and you get a bigger, more elaborate story. It’s on Netflix…check it out.
