Since Friday’s game ended I have received more than 250 positive emails with good wishes; positive vibes; declarations of support; good tidings and real class. We are embraced. I am sure ratings will be through the roof today as it is another do or die game.
I have only received 3 negative emails since Friday from the same group of know-it-alls that write to me on and on and on. One guy is grumpy about lack of giveaways at games. One guy wants us to lose to prove he is a better GM than George. One guy just hates everything about life and us and the team although he is a self-promoted #1 fan and sees his success in other’s failures. Stew away in your grumpiness. The sun is shining right now. You have been overwhelmed with positive signals.
Our community has been built. It is positive and it wants to rise above the noise and focus on an ongoing signal. We have to envision success. We have to have our life lists and our aspirations. We must see success not failure. That is the only way to conduct yourself. Be upbeat. Be confident. Be prepared for the worst but trust and then verify. And go for it!
Wish us luck as we enter the toughest game in the hardest place to play this season.
I thank you all for your best wishes. It means a lot to me personally. Thank you. Go Caps!
If you want to acquire all of the HardHat on-line that is probably appearing in the actual photo I was lucky enough to receive it located at safe workplace.
Congratulations on Round 1 – This is the team you said you’d deliver, and fans knew you’d do it! Woo-hoo!!! I’m so proud to be a Caps fan!
Who could doubt that the Caps would comeback and WILL Win the series. We are EXTREMELY LUCKY to have this team and a great player like Ovechkin. He is the equivalent of LeBron or Kobe playing in our backyard. WOW! I think we will win the Cup this year. Won’t be easy but it’s more fun this way.
What? No comment about Sather calling the team out in his letter to Bettman?
It’s a pleasure to be rocking the red here in london, england. Your plan for the team was clear from the beginning and it’s been a pleasure to watch it unfold. Congrats on building a fantastic organisation and a special thank you for making it so easy to feel connected with the Caps from thousands of miles away.
Dream Team. Right here.
Not enough give-a-aways? What does the guy want, you to give him a car… or a house?? lol I’ve been to a number of games over the last few years and have no complaints with the give-a-aways…. especially on ‘kids night’. You guys really go WAY above and beyond for the kids!
LETS GO CAPS!!
I would have expected some kind of public response to the ugliness Friday night. The actions of Washington fans behind the New York bench are no secret, and they have nothing to do with good tidings or class.
Granted, you can’t do much to prevent individuals from misbehaving; they’re everywhere, at every venue. Clearly Madison Square Garden is no exception. I was a season-ticket holder and was embarrassed to be associated with many people at those games, but I digress.
If security received word of deplorable, ejection-worthy behavior, especially when it’s all being directed at one of the teams competing against your team, something has to be done.
Things like that cannot be ignored.
Between the hubristic on-ice displays from your team — think the Ovechkin-Backstrom mock stick salute after Game 2, the trash-talking, the taunting — and the take-this-into-our-own-hands approach of your fans, the Capitals are prime for a fall.
It might not be the Rangers knocking the team off this pedestal, but someone surely will and no one will have to dig deeply to find out why.
What a fantastic weekend for all Caps fans!
We all knew the Caps were the better team and now our chance is here on Tuesday! Leaving work extra early just to make sure there are no delays getting to DC from Baltimore. Thanks for being a caring, intelligent, and accessible owner. How refreshing that is in pro sports.
See you Tuesday! Rock the Red!
Great game Friday. Great game today! Congrats from a believer!
See you Tuesday Ted!!! Bring the cowbell and the watch!!!!
Sec 104 Row R 16-18.
Let’s Go Caps!!!!
You and the CAPS are doing a great job – now for a very nervous evening at the Verizon Center on Tuesday – I have been cheering the CAPS for many years and it does my heart good to see them play like they did in period 1 and 2 today. Thank you for making all this possible!
You are a success, as are the Caps. Therefore unhappy- with-their-life people or just misanthropes will snipe at your heels. The way you communicaste to the fan base or just took the heat in dismantling the team (even trading Bondra to give him a shot at the Cup–though this brought a lump to my throat) was classy, gutsy, and done with a clear head and eyes on the goal of rebuilding the team.George A. Karas PS No giveaways is hardly an earth-shaking event, especially as explained by you. Of course, it was unconscionable not to give all attendees sold gold coin souvenirs. They seem to think that you need help in spending your (and the team’s) money, not theirs. It is especially easy if the $ are from someone else’s pocket. GAK
so can you begin posting the “top 3″ e-mails then? i always loved the “top 10″ that you used to post every now and then.
YAY!!!! I’m so excited the be at game seven. Here’s to more positive jibes, wishes, and happy dances.
Funny article. Yes, people who pretend to be Caps fans and want the team to lose to prove their theories right must have a problem with life in general.
Congrats to the team for tying the series! I kept the faith after the third defeat, because the Caps were obviously a better team. Best wishes for game 7!
Ted,
I was very impressed with your down to earth comments a couple of years back when the caps were struggling. It’s great to see an owner who really cares, and lets the fans know it. You’re a fantastic owner, and the NHL is lucky to have a guy like you!
I’m a Caps faithful too! 23 years and counting, finally this year was able to get season tickets and am sooo excited about this team and it’s future! I think what has happened with this franchise is amazing and incredible, I thank you and everyone involved for all the hard work that has gone into getting the Caps to where they are now. Win or lose today, they are still my team and I’ll still be incredibly proud to call myself a Caps fan for LIFE!
Let’s Go Caps!!!
Thanks Ted for all you do and for your positive comments. I know I have not always been the most supportive fan over the years and I apologize for my negative comments. I see now that you and George have a vision for the team. I hope you are ready with your Rock the Red cowbell!!
I wish everyone luck today and can’t wait to cheer the Caps on to victory here in Game 7!!!
All I have to say is this: it can’t get any more positive than what was seen at Friday’s game at the end of the second period. The fans were cheering so loud that the players KEPT PLAYING after the period-ending buzzer. The refs had to physically stop play because they couldn’t hear the whistles. That is a memory that I will take with me to the grave – our voices could have reached the gods with how much noise we were making.
LET’S GO CAPS!
See you Tuesday night Ted.
Definitely totally pulling for the CAPS! What a great organization you’ve built, all of you. I am so proud of this team right now, I could bust my buttons.
Go get ‘em Caps! I’ll be rooting on from the second level at Giants Stadium while watching DC United beat the New York Red Bulls.
Plus, the Nationals play the Mets today. Huge DC-NY day.
I still believe! Go Caps! Forget the haters
Add my name to the Caps faithful, Ted. We’ll be rooting for y’all from DC today!
