As we head into Memorial Day, we are honored to premiere online the film Nanking on SnagFilms.com. Click here to launch it and view it for free this weekend.
Nanking is a very powerful film and one that I am very moved to now show the world. I hope you will watch it, snag it and show it to your friends.
It is an anti-war film; a film about personal courage and integrity; and a film about the power of pursuit of a higher calling.
The film is in dedication to the heroes of Nanking; its victims of the massacre; and to Iris Chang, the author of the book The Rape of Nanking.
The film was shown in theaters here in the US and throughout China. It was then shown on HBO and was made available on DVD on Netflix, Blockbuster, Amazon and other outlets.
It is an honor to now show it online on SnagFilms. I created the film Nanking and produced it as a labor of love and as a first example of ”Filmanthropy”. The film recently received a Peabody Award which will be granted on Monday in NYC.
Thanks to all involved with making of the film and thanks to SnagFilms for showing it. And thanks for taking the time to watch this powerful movie and for supporting the charitable causes built around it.
I enjoyed the compelling film Nanking. My grandfather was am American shop owner in Shanghai when the Japanese came to town, as it were. While not Nanking, his surviving photo album of the horrific destruction and loss of life in Shanghai was very similar to the images in your film. That these images survived his four years in a Japanese internment camp is astounding. I felt as if your work gave voice to the bodies and families forever frozen between the pages of his album. Anne
Congrats on ur Peabody
