Funny or True?

A friend sent me an email — I read it and laughed out loud.

Here is what it said:

“The first testicular guard (the cup) was used in hockey in 1874 — and the first use of the helmet was used in 1974.  It took 100 years for man to realize that the brain was also important and worth protecting”.

Isn’t that pitch perfect?

  1. And It took more than 125 years to realize that heavy skaters should use larger and stronger skate blades (runner), not the same one as they were using at 5 years old with there little 50 pounds.
So we did by creating and introducing a blade for man,in 2002, the X-BLADES, welcome in the new skate performance.

  2. Funny, _not_ true. George Owen wore a helmet in the 1928-29 season; by 1934, the _entire_ Boston Bruins team wore helmets. -JW

  3. Gordie Howe was once asked why hockey players always wear a cup but rarely wore a helmet and Howe’s answer was ‘You can always get someone to do your thinking for you’.

  4. That’s funny, but it’s historically inaccurate. Ted Green of the Boston Bruins began wearing a helmet during the 1970-71 season.
