The Hershey Bears won Game 1 of the Calder Cup Finals on the road last night in overtime 5 to 4.
This was an important road win. The schedule format in the Finals is two games on the road, three games at home and then two on the road.
The Manitoba Moose sold out their arena last night for the game with more than 15,000 fans in attendance. This is AHL hockey at its best and we are very proud of our Hershey Bears.
@John Puskar. Woodsy and Frenchie sit there every game to watch the opposing teams warmups. Actually, you were sitting in their normal seats so they moved down a row, caused all kinds of confusion for the STH in the section. They’re great before the warmups and will answer any questions that you have.
I got my tickets for games 3,4 and 5 ( $23.00 per game) in the lower bowl. For all the Caps fans out there who cant afford the Caps playoff ticket prices this is a great deal. You casn drive to Hershey, go to a game and satay for the night at a reasonable price. Games 3 and 4 are sold out but game 5 is still available. Go check out the Bears!!!!
My family drove up to Hershey during Spring Break to see a couple of Bear games. Great experience, and now I’ve started following them, although that is tough, given that even the AHL games are not on TV. Yes I know about the webcasts but not applicable to those of us on atellite. I wish that you could encourage the local media to provide some more coverage of the team and their stretch run to the CC. Maybe they are beyond the normal sphere of influence of DC media but they are closely associated with the Caps and a lot of us are really interested. I would much rather see highlights of a Bears cup game than stories about some Redskin. There are a number of great young players but the one who really stood out for me was Mathieu Perrault. He is just a fabulous skater. I hope to see him soon at the phonebooth.
slightly off topic…time to bring back some team or teams to canada… wow-15k in peg for a game….reminds me of when the minor legue games in the early 70′s regularly sold out the montreal forum
Not to be a nitpicker Ted but it’s the Manitoba Moose. It is in Winnepeg so you were close.
I will be one of the screaming banshees in Hershey come Saturday along with many of my section 419 bretheren. I don’t know if you have been up there but it is an amazing experience. We were actually sitting right behind Coach Woods during the warm ups in the stands for game 1 of the Eastern conference finals. He just walked right down and sat with us commoners in section 120.
GO CAPS, GO BEARS, and most importantly, GO WINGS!!!
