SnagFilms on Fortune.com

Check out this great piece on SnagFilms on Fortune.com.

I am so proud of how well SnagFilms is scaling and helping film makers and charities.

I was also so proud  to receive a Peabody Award today — in NYC — thank you HBO for your  support of this film.

And if I can name drop — I got a chance to hang out today with Wolf Blitzer and John King of CNN; Brian Williams of NBC; Laura Linney from John Adams; Earl the Pearl Monroe; and many other luminaries from the tv and media — and film  business.

Red Matter

We just came back from seeing the re-imagined Star Trek film — and I must say I enjoyed it as did every member of my family.  Paramount has a new — tent pole — series now — this film series will become epic — ala Harry Potter or the Batman franchises — kudos to JJ Abrams for doing great directorial duties; the story held together and the CGI didn’t overwhelm the character development.  Star Trek is  great summer entertainment fun — and at the heart of the story was a new element called “Red Matter“; when it first appeared — I heard a young man sitting three rows ahead of us in the theatre  say — “Lets Go Caps”.  That made my day.  Red Matter was also central in blowing up the world and starting all over. “Nanking” on SnagFilms.com

As we head into Memorial Day, we are honored to premiere online the film Nanking on SnagFilms.com. Click here to launch it and view it for free this weekend.

Nanking is a very powerful film and one that I am very moved to now show the world. I hope you will watch it, snag it and show it to your friends.

It is an anti-war film; a film about personal courage and integrity; and a film about the power of pursuit of a higher calling.

Another Thank You to You…

I wanted to thank you all again for your support and for the genuine respect and love you have all shown for our team even in defeat in Game 7 of Round 2 of the Stanley Cup  Playoffs. The two minute standing ovation to our team at game’s end is the talk of the league and several executives from other teams and the league itself have called me to mention it. Thank you again. That was very classy and elegant and nice. Our team’s salute to you on the ice was heartfelt. Our fans are special and one of a kind.

The Better Team Won Last Night

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins; they were clearly the better team last night and they deserved to win the game and the series.

As noted– they are a bit ahead of  us in their rebuild; and their experience in big games in the playoffs shined through last night. They are a deep–talented– fast and skilled team and they deserved to move onto the next round. We wish them good luck the rest of the way in the playoffs.

We will decompress for a bit– get introspective and try to get some distance from the emotions of a tough game 7 loss in the second round to a team that was clearly better than us; while we made progress during the  season — last night’s performance was a let down and shows we have much work left to do to meet our ultimate goal of a Stanley Cup.

We were all touched by the fan base last night — the two minute standing ovation at game’s end–in a blow out loss- was truly spectacular–and was moving and we are all  appreciative of  your thoughtfulness and your love.

We will give everyone a day to chill out– then hold meetings on Friday– and then get started on off season planning and get back to work next week.

Thank you for a great season; and a good playoff run– we will continue to improve; we are committed to meeting all of  our goals; onward; Go Caps.

Who Ya Got? Mega Shark or Giant Octopus?

I try never to miss a Lorenzo Lamas/Deborah Gibson blockbuster summer film and this one promises to be the biggest hit of the year. The writing, acting and production value of this film promises to blow Star Trek off the map.

Check out this trailer. See the best Hollywood has to offer. See a shark eat the Golden Gate Bridge. Stare in awe. Go Lorenzo, Go.

Good Signs

Our AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, closed out their series last night with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins with a 3-0 win in their Game 7. The Bears now move on to the Eastern Conference finals.

The Bears won their first two games of the series; then lost three; won one to tie it up; and won the series in Game 7 at home.

Here is hoping we are a mirror image of the Bears. We are very proud of the team and its staff and players. We have many fine developing prospects on the team and we also have another great goaltending prospect in Hershey who pitched a shut out in a very tense situation last night. We have a perfect partnership with Hershey. Kudos to them and congratulations to their great fan base as well. We were all with you in spirit last night in Hershey and I listened to the game on my desktop PC. Way to go! Go Bears!
