Finally – A Good Film This Summer

My family and I went to see The Brothers Bloom on Sunday. It was well-written, well-directed but, most importantly, well acted.

Nothing was as it seems and the story of who is conning who may be an old theme but this film had many new twists. It was artsy but mainstream. It had great production and art direction and it felt classic even though it was produced in a very modern fashion.

I liked the film very much. It made you think about who was zooming who. It also dissected relationships in a very interesting way. The actors were superb and I have become a big Adrien Brody fan of late. Go check this one out. You will enjoy it. It is a grown up film.

  1. Ted – the man who wrote and directed this movie, Rian Johnson, was in town to do a Q&A session at the Landmark E Street theater after two showings last Sunday. He’s a very nice guy, and he’s on Twitter as well – @rcjohnso

Also, if you’re interested, they’ve got a commentary available on the film’s website – you download it to your iPod or mp3 player and listen to it while you watch the movie – Rian’s got a lot of very nice insights which will make you want to watch the movie even a third time. The first 2 minutes of the commentary are all instructions on when to start the commentary – he’ll tell you to pause it at a certain time and unpause it right after the company logos…

Great film. Cannot recommend it enough!

  2. Nice to see the opinion about the movie, planning on seeing it this week. I’m a big fan of Adrien Brody.
